KPN to acquire Primevest fibre network

Leading Dutch telecommunications provider, KPN, has announced the acquisition of Primevest Capital Partners’ fiber network, bolstering its presence in major cities.

The acquired network covers 127,000 homes in urban areas of The Hague, Rotterdam, and Eindhoven. This move aligns with KPN’s strategic goal of expanding its fiber network to cover approximately 80% of the Netherlands by 2026.

Wouter Stammeijer, Chief Technology & Digital Officer and member of the Board of Management of KPN, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting its significance in expanding the company’s existing fiber footprint, which already encompasses 4 million households. Stammeijer emphasized the progress made in KPN’s fiber rollout and reiterated the company’s commitment to completing this ambitious project in the coming years.

As the largest provider of fiber services in major cities, KPN’s acquisition of Primevest’s fiber network further solidifies its leading position in the market. KPN’s fiber offering is designed to deliver an exceptional customer experience on a modern, sustainable, and future-proof network.

KPN operates an open access network, allowing wholesale providers to offer their services to customers, promoting competition and choice in the market.

The transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of June 2023, while financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
