APPOINTED

Aruna Sundararajan, secretary of IT and electronics, has taken full charge of the department of telecom (DoT), which till now was an additional charge given to her in May 2017. After JS Deepak, power secretary PK Pujari was secretary, DoT as additional charge for a few months before Sundararajan was brought in. Ajay Prakash Sawhney is now secretary, MeitY.

Dr PT Mathew has assumed charge as chief general manager, BSNL, Kerala Circle. Earlier, Mathew had headed Vellore, Kannur, Coimbatore, Ernakulam business areas.

Inderpreet Sawhney has been appointed as group general counsel, Infosys. Sawhney joins Infosys from Wipro where she was the general counsel.

Naoki Wakai has been appointed as president and CEO of NTT Communications Singapore. He is currently deputy managing director of NTT Europe. He will replace Takeshi Kazami, who is to resign later this month.

Simon Williams has been appointed as CEO of NTT DATA UK. He succeeds Steve Mitchener, who retired from the UK business in May 2017. Simon was previously NTT DATA UK’s Head
of Telco Media, Insurance Consulting, and Digital.

Betsy Francis has been appointed as vice president and general manager of AT&T, Mid-Atlantic States of Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Most recently, Francis was AT&T’s vice president/general manager in Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

Dave Hudson has been appointed as managing director, wholesale division of Zen Internet.

Juniper Networks has appointed Marcus Jewell as senior vice president and general manager for its Europe, Middle East, and Africa business. Jewell joins Juniper from Brocade Communications, where he most recently ran the EMEA business, and was also the global head of the company’s software sales.

Vivendi has appointed its CEO, Arnaud de Puyfontaine, as executive chairman, Telecom Italia.

Nunzio Mirtillo has been appointed as head of market area South-East Asia, Oceania, and India at Ericsson India. Before this appointment, Mirtillo served as Head of Region Mediterranean at Ericsson from 2010 to 2017. He will replace Paolo Colella.

PROMOTED

Jennifer Artley has been promoted to be president of BT in the Americas, succeeding Bas Burger, who has become CEO of BT Global Services.

ELECTED

Marcelo Claure, president and CEO, Sprint, has been formally elected to the board of directors of SoftBank Group Corp., led by chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son. Joining Claure as new directors are Rajeev Misra, CEO of SoftBank Investment Advisors; Simon Segars, CEO of ARM Holdings plc; Mark Schwartz, senior director of Goldman, Sachs & Co.; and Yasir O. Al-Rumayyan, managing director and board member of the public investment fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

RESIGNED

Sam Pitroda has resigned from the post of IT advisor to Odisha government. He had
been appointed the state’s IT advisor and given the rank of a cabinet minister in January 2016.

Infosys chairman R Seshasayee will retire from the board in May 2018 when he turns 70.

Mohit Saxena, co-founder and chief technology officer of InMobi, has decided to step down from his position as the technology chief, and for family reasons moves to USA. Saxena has been looking after technology operations – including engineering, operation, and data – at InMobi.

Sandeep Dadlani, president and head of Americas for Infosys has stepped down from his position. He will take up the role of chief digital officer at global food giant, Mars.
