JMC Cuts Cables Of Telecom Firms

Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Monday cut the aerial optical cables of telecom companies working in Jaipur who haven’t paid the yearly amount for using the poles installed by JMC around the city. Around 700 meters of the cable of two companies from the statue circle was seized and this drive will continue.

Naveen Bhardhwaj, deputy commissioner at JMC while talking to TOI said that these cables have been operational around the city on the street light poles of JMC. “Telecom companies should take permission from Jaipur discom and JMC to lay the aerial cables. However, they usually take permission from discom as most of the electrical poles belong to them. We are restricted to just street lights and they never take our permission which is why we suffer revenue losses. They are supposed to pay Rs 1000 per pole annually and all the companies are given notices. If we don’t receive the due amount, we will start seizing their cables from now onwards.”―Times Of India
