Insights from South Asia cloud and data centre summit

On 27th July, experts from the tech industry gathered virtually and discussed and debated on topics like hyperscale data centres, cooling technologies and renewable energy data centers amongst others in W.Media’s digital event ‘South Asia Cloud & Data Centre Awards Summit’. The attendees got a chance to network with tech leaders from India. Over 450 people had attended the digital event.

The digital event touched upon topics that focused upon the need for building hyperscale data centres, importance of switching to renewable sources of energy to tackle change and others.

Renowned speakers were a part of this event including Rahul Dhar, Country Director – Data Centers, Microsoft, Ramaiy Kapoor, Head of Investment & Commercials – Data Centre Group, CapitaLand India, Soumya Prasad Garnaik, Executive Director, Energy Efficiency Services Limited – Ministry of Power, Govt of India, Krishnamurthy Rajesh, Head – Information Technology, ICRA Limited, Dr. Chandrasekhar Panda, Senior Director – Digital and Core Tech Strategy, McKinsey&Company, Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, Executive Chairman & Founder, 5F World, and R.N Mohanty, President – Technology, Pidilite Industries Limited to name a few.

The first panel session titled ‘Building hyperscale data centers to meet South Asia’s digital economy demands’, focused upon the need of hyperscale data centres in South Asia, the hesitancy that organisations have in migrating to cloud, the future of colocation data centres and others.

Climate change has encouraged organisations to switch to renewable sources of energy. The second panel session titled ‘The innovation and trends in power and cooling technologies for the hyperscale data center era.’

The other discussions were focused around the area of the need and importance of switching to renewable sources of energy and the ways in which the automation of hyperscale data centres can provide an edge to the organisations.
