India Opens Control Centre For Monitoring Govt Data Infrastructure

The government of India has now opened a Command and Control center and center of excellence for the artificial intelligence at the National Informatics Center. NIC provides the cloud services and data center to the government.

The CCC will help the government to troubleshoot, monitor and provide some of the technical support for its various technology initiatives, according to the press statement. Minister for the electronics, Law and IT and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad opened the center.

The government under the NIC ambit, as of now operates four national data centers and 30 mini data centers across the entire country, with hosting of about 10000 e-governance applications. Majority of the critical government applications are also hosted at these locations and the volume and the nature of these critical online services have also been evolved and grown at a higher rate.

Prasad said that new technologies have the potential to transform societies and usher in an era of transparency and efficient governance. “Women who are more attracted towards new technologies can further catalyze social change which these technologies are bound to bring. Institutions like NIC should not only serve the government but also guide the private sector in applying artificial intelligence to improve consumer-centric services,” he said speaking at the event.

Apart from just with the infrastructure monitoring, the NIC was also in the process of setting up a centralized system to monitor critical websites which are hosted on the institution’s cloud, the government revealed. For the large critical projects, the NIC proposed to provide users with a customized dashboard where they can monitor resources and availability of their applications. Applications like the hospital, Beneficiary identification System under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme were already included on the dashboard.

Moreover, the center of the excellence in the Artificial Intelligence by the NIC has been established with the motto of the ‘Inclusive AI’ for the responsive governance, to work towards improving government service delivery to the citizens.―Tech Experts
