India forms working group to promote telecom exports

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in India has taken steps to promote the exports of telecom equipment in various segments, including 5G, 6G, satellite gear, and other related areas. This initiative comes as a result of a meeting between the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) and the telecom secretary.

To drive export opportunities for telecom infrastructure and equipment manufacturers in India, working groups have been established with specific goals. These groups will identify potential markets, develop export strategies, and address any challenges faced by the industry. The ultimate objective is to enhance the export capabilities of Indian companies in the global telecom market.

The working groups will focus on key areas such as 5G equipment, satellite equipment, and emerging technologies like 6G. India has been actively promoting the development and deployment of 5G technology within the country, and now it aims to leverage this expertise for export purposes as well. By expanding their reach and exploring new markets, Indian companies in the telecom industry, including Tejas Networks, HFCL, and Coral Telecom, will benefit from the formation of these working groups.

These efforts to boost electronics and telecom exports align with the Make in India initiative, as the country strives to become a global hub for telecom manufacturing and export. With its skilled workforce and technological capabilities, India is well-positioned to establish itself as a leader in the telecom industry. ISP
