Honor Unveils Smartphone With 48MP Rear Camera, Honor View 20
Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has showcased its new smartphone — View 20. The handset is the company’s first smartphone to sport an in-screen camera. As per Honor, the in-screen front camera design uses 18-layer technology stack. Honor is calling this screen Full-View Display 3.0.
Another highlight of the Honor View 20 is that it offers a 48-megapixel rear camera featuring Sony IMX586 sensor, making it the world’s first smartphone to do so.
Lastly, with the View 20, Honor has launched what it is calling Link Turbo. Using this, Honor has claimed that the View 20 will leverage AI and big data technologies and automatically analyse users’ usage models and network conditions to switch between Wi-Fi or 4G networks and boost downloading speed by simultaneously adopting both networks.
The handset is slated for an official announced on December 26 in China as Honor V20, while the global launch is taking place in Paris on January 22.
The in-screen camera is also going to be a part of Huawei’s Nova 4. The company has posted a teaser on Chinese social networking website Weibo announcing the launch of the device — Huawei Nova 4, which it will unveil on December 17. From the teaser one can see that the Nova 4 will come with a design change as rather than featuring a notch to house the front camera, the device will have a hole in the display.
Despite both Huawei and Honor confirming their in-screen selfie camera phones, Samsung is is the first one to launch one in China. Called the Samsung Galaxy A8s, it offers an ‘Infinity-O’ display. – Gadgets Now
