Hartron Extends Contract With RailTel As Managed Service Partner For HSWAN

Hartron extends Operation & Maintenance Contract with RailTel as Managed Service Partner for Haryana State Wide Network for another year. RailTel will now continue to work as the Managed Service Partner of Haryana State Wide Area Network (HSWAN) which connects 23 Districts and 124 Blocks powering various government and citizen service applications being delivered over a common network backbone The Haryana SAWN supports data, voice and video, and enables the State to implement various e-Governance initiatives with an aim to fulfil the national E-Governance Mission. The extension speaks volume of RailTel’s excellent service for the network for the past 3 years.

RailTel is associated with govt of Haryana in the field of information and technology since 2015 by maintaining the state IT infrastructure comprising state data centre and entire state-wide area network at district, block and village level. The E-Governance services comprise of Day to day video conferencing services of all state govt departments, online FIR lodging for police department at more than 450 police stations, revenue services through SWAN across Haryana and all other IT services of state

When RailTel came on board as Managed Service Partner a new era of workmanship began in Haryana SWAN which resulted into 100 percent working of all district and block headquarter Point of Presences (PoPs).  Further RailTel team upgraded the networking equipment at 1200 locations with brand new equipment thereby improving the efficiency of the state IT Infrastructure. The RailTel team of 150 skilled engineers and IT professionals is working 24x7x 365 relentlessly to make the Haryana SWAN the best network of country with extended support from Hartron (Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation Limited) under the able guidance of MD Hartron.

In the past 3 years RailTel has introduced major changes and upgraded the network in many aspects for making it much more efficient.  The Databases increased from 30 (in 2015) to 40 (in 2019), numbers of applications have increased from 40 (in 2015) to 77 (in 2019). The Size of storage being managed has increased from 20 TB to to approximately 160 TB. RailTel has also successfully completed the creation and maintenance of open source Windows Event Log Collection Server (Nxlog) and a VTL (Virtual Tape Library) (10 TB) has been implemented for seamless backups. Also, Proper movement of tapes to fire safe storage has been ensured by RailTel.

Talking about the Network and RailTel service, a senior Hartron official said ‘We are very satisfied with the service being provided by RailTel team in managing the Haryana State Wide network for the past 3 years. Satisfied by their dedication we have decided to extend the O&M contract with RailTel for another year. The E-Governance services provided through our State-Wide Area Network has helped the common citizens of Haryana immensely. We are trying to educate the entire state machinery to adopt e-services of state which will provide faster and more transparent service to the citizens.’
