Government Asks Agitating BSNL Workers To Revoke Strike, Assures To Mull Over Demands

The government on Sunday assured the agitating BSNL workers for taking positive steps for the allotment of 4G spectrum to the State run telecom company and said it has referred the issue to TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India).

The government in its statement also addressed the other issues of the workers who will be going for a three day strike from Monday and promised a holistic plan will be taken into consideration and executed soon for the revival of the beleaguered state telecom. With this the government also asked the workers to not go on strike as that will jeopardize the interest of company.

“Further action will be taken on receipt of the said recommendation. In parallel, a comprehensive proposal for revival of BSNL has been prepared, which will be taken up for consideration by competent authorities very soon,” said telecom department in a statement.

“BSNL employees and officers will not jeopardize the interests of their organization by going on strike at a time when it is in their own interest to protect their customer-base and revenue by providing uninterrupted, high-quality services,” it added.

BSNL’s management has appealed to its workers for not resorting to any Strike or agitation when the company is making “serious and Sincere” efforts to enhance its market share, as any disruption in its services due to strike will only hamper the interest of agitating workers, company and its stakeholders.

Since the arrival of Reliance Jio, most of the telecom companies have been struggling against the stiff competition by Jio and its growing clout in the telecom industry. BSNL is no different and is continuously losing its ground and has become somewhat obsolete in terms of technology. – The Indian Wire
