Ericsson Opens New 5G Training Facility In Texas

Ericsson earlier this week held a grand opening and tour of its new training center in Lewisville, Texas, the largest such facility in the U.S. for the infrastructure vendor. The goal is to train more technicians, tower climbers and specialises in the skills necessary to deploy 5G.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr, Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, and top executives for Ericsson’s operations in the U.S. were on hand for the opening. The Lewisville Center of Excellence, which is a little more than 26,000 square feet, will be able to train 138 workers per shift and handle up to two shifts per day, according to Ericsson.

Seven full-time employees will manage operations at the training center, which Ericsson described as an “enhanced training facility that provides best-in-class field services training and support for Ericsson employees and partners.”

Industry experts will teach courses on topics including radio base station installation, tower and rooftop installation, microwave alignment, deployment and network integration, and virtual site support. The facility is scheduled to open sometime in the next few months.―Fierce Wireless
