Ericsson Awarded 5G Innovation Of The Year By Telecom Asia

5G is expected to be deployed early in South Korea, Japan and China and, by the end of the forecast period, 5G subscription penetration is projected to exceed 43 percent in North East Asia, according to the latest edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report.

Ericsson’s 5G Platform was recognized as the 5G Innovation of the Year at the 11th Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice & Innovation Awards beating out competitors, Huawei, Cisco and ZTE. Telecom Asia is a one of the leading tech publications in the region.

On a global level, 5G is expected to reach more than 40 percent global population coverage and 1.5 billion subscriptions for enhanced mobile broadband by the end of 2024. Major 5G network deployments are anticipated from 2020, and by the end of 2024 we project 1.5 billion 5G subscriptions for enhanced mobile broadband.

At the Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice & Innovation Awards, Ericsson also received awards for the Network Optimization Innovation of the Year for its Self-Organizing Networks (SON) Optimization Manager as well an award for the Small Cell Innovation of the Year for the Ericsson Radio Dot System.

In total, the winners were recognized in 24 categories ranging from 5G, cloud , network innovation, video, voice and wireless applications. The award ceremony was held in Hong Kong on November 28, 2018. – Ericsson
