Ericsson and Orange Poland bring 5G training to the virtual realm

As part of a contract to deploy 5G Standalone (SA) in Poland, the new training program offers an immersive, hands-on learning experience that enhances understanding of the 5G core network architecture and it’s capabilities.

Currently, more than 90 percent of technical trainings for Ericsson’s business partners in Europe and Latin America are conducted in a virtual format. VR elevates these digital training sessions by making the content more engaging, as well as help replicate the in-person interactive experience of on-site training from remote locations.

Jaroslaw Paszkiewicz, Director of Core Network Development at Orange Poland, says: “Virtual reality is present in many areas of our lives and has great potential, including learning. VR training brings the interaction between participants to a higher level and provides new opportunities to improve skills. Thanks to the innovative methods leveraged by Ericsson, our engineers were able to experience a new kind of training. I think that VR will play an increasingly important role for education in the future.”

Ewelina Grabowska, Head of Learning for Europe and Latin America at Ericsson, says: “When developing this virtual reality training program, we focused on effective learning. Despite the fact that we are surrounded by modern technology, our mind assimilates knowledge the same way it has always done – by observing the environment and interacting with other people. The advantage of delivering trainings in VR is that we learn faster and more efficiently in the 3D world.”

Ericsson plans to conduct further virtual reality trainings with Orange Poland in 2023, using the experience gathered from the first training session. Based on the Polish experience, the company also intends to roll out virtual reality trainings with more business partners worldwide.
