EE enters 2021 as UK’s leading network

EE has taken the top spot for overall performance in RootMetrics’ latest national results for the 15th consecutive time. EE was named number one for overall performance, reliability, speed, data, call and text, and joint first for accessibility in RootMetrics’ 2H 2020 tests, demonstrating its ongoing network investment in 4G and 5G technology, and commitment to bringing customers the best mobile experience.

In 2020, EE built 160 new 4G sites across the UK, helping people stay connected to friends and family, and catering for the 40% year on year increase in 4G data usage.

EE’s network has been named the best in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and continues to be the UK’s fastest and most reliable network, as well as being named the UK’s no.1 network for mobile gaming.

EE’s 5G availability is higher than all other networks in the UK’s four capital cities – Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London. In London, availability on EE is more than double that of the second placed operator, almost four times that of the third placed operator and six times greater than the last placed operator.

Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer business, said: “Delivering the best mobile experience remains our priority. Being recognised as the UK’s best network for the fifteenth consecutive time reflects our continued investment in keeping our customers connected to the things that matter to them most. RootMetrics’ 5G testing shows that we are a long way ahead in terms of 5G rollout and bringing the latest mobile technology to even more people.”
