Digicel Prepares to Roll Out 4G, Optimises Network

Digicel, Trinidad and Tobago’s largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has begun upgrading its mobile network and is preparing for a 4G launch this year, writes the Guardian. Cell sites across the country are being optimised for LTE equipment, with the locations of Diego Martin, Carenage, Chauguaramas, Port of Spain, Maraval and St Ann’s already upgraded for 4G technology. Network upgrades have also been carried out recently in Barataria, El Soccoro, Aranguez, Couva, Freeport, Sangre Grande, Valencia champs Fleurs and St Joseph, with a further twelve areas set to be optimised by the end of May.

Chandrika Samaroo, General Manager of Home Entertainment at Digicel Trinidad and Tobago commented: ‘Our network transformation is now in full swing and we have stepped up the pace to begin deploying LTE within a few months so that our personal and business customers can connect to the future of advanced mobile data.’ – Tele Geography
