Dell Launches U4919DW: Ultra-Wide Curved 49-Inch Display For Professionals Using Dual Monitor Setup

The Dell UltraSharp U4919DW is a 49-inch IPS panel ultra-wide curved monitor meant for businesses that need a dual-monitor setup to boost productivity.

Dell has launched an interesting ultra-wide computer monitor that should help professionals who rely on multi-monitor setup. The large, curved monitor is meant primarily for businesses, but given the specifications, and features, the Dell monitor would surely work for gaming sessions as well.

The Dell UltraSharp U4919DW is an ultra-wide display featuring a 49-inch diagonally. The large monitor comes with a rather unique but very practical 32:9 aspect ratio. The curved monitor effectively eliminates the need to use two 24 or 27-inch LCD monitors. Such a setup is quite common in many businesses. The Dell U4919DW is a single monitor that should save a lot of desk space.

Dell UltraSharp U4919DW Specifications

The Dell UltraSharp U4919DW packs a 49-inch IPS display with a 5120×1440 resolution, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, an 8/5 millisecond response time (normal and fast modes), and 178-degree vertical and horizontal viewing angles. Despite the rather standard 60Hz refresh rate, the Dell monitor does come with respectable 350 nits brightness. The monitor is curved. The diameter of the curvature is 3800R.

In simple words, the Dell UltraSharp U4919DW is a capable 5K monitor. Incidentally, the monitor is one of the first few to use a 5K IPS panel. As expected, the professional monitor can display 99% of the sRGB color space. A few businesses that mandatorily require AdobeRGB or DCI-P3 color spaces can look elsewhere, but most businesses need a large display that offers more content drawn from productivity applications and suites. And this monitor should be ideal for such a scenario. Incidentally, the Dell UltraSharp U4919DW comes factory-calibrated at Delta-E less than 2.

The Dell UltraSharp U4919DW comes packed with several ports that make business work easy and more productive. The monitor features two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, and a USB Type-C port. Surprisingly, the USB Type-C port can deliver as much as 90W power, which, needless to say, is more than sufficient to run most modern-day laptops. One of the highlights of the Dell monitor is the inclusion of five-port USB 3.0 hub and two USB 3.0 upstream ports.

Dell UltraSharp U4919DW Features

The Dell UltraSharp U4919DW supports Picture-by-Picture functionality. Hence it can be easily used for two PCs simultaneously. The ability to support two different PCs simultaneously with just a single monitor, keyboard and mouse comes from an inbuilt KVM Switch. The KVM Switch is a simple modern-day device that allows professionals to switch from one connected PC to another.

Focusing primarily on professionals, Dell has equipped the UltraSharp U4919DW with a flexible yet sturdy stand that does way more than keep the monitor upright. Owing to several design improvements, the monitor stand allows several degrees of height, tilt and swivel adjustments. In other words, the Dell UltraSharp U4919DW can easily be customized to match the desired viewing angle.

Dell UltraSharp U4919DW Price, Availability

Dell will begin the sale of the UltraSharp U4919DW productivity monitor at the end of this month. The company has priced the monitor at $1,699. The price roughly translates to Rs. 1,24,000 in India.

While the price may seem rather steep, Dell has designed the monitor to eliminate the need of buying and maintaining two QHD 27-inch monitors. Considering the fact that Dell has effectively clubbed two large-screen monitors together, the price appears rather justified in the long run for businesses. – My Smart Price
