Information Technology Act of 2000 enforcement is handled by MeitY’s Cyber Laws and Data Governance section. It encourages electronic trade, gives e-commerce legal backing, makes e-governance easier, guards against cybercrimes, and puts security measures in place.

The division is competent to supervise online gaming and social media intermediaries through the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules of 2021. In order to help Indian social media users, a Grievance Appellate Committee handles complaints about social media.

In addition to promoting data governance frameworks, this division explores the legal ramifications of emerging technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. It also covers aspects of company law, copyright Act, competition law, and intellectual property rights protection in the context of information technology. CIO News
