Cyta Invests to Upgrade Broadband Networks
Cyta announced its strategic decision to make significant investments in a major project whose aim is to create ultra-high speed broadband (optical and copper) broadband networks for the whole of Cyprus. In the context of the implementation of the project and the operations that have been launched, Cyta published the ‘Wholesale services supply model’ for alternative providers for access to these new networks.
The next step will be to provide retail products for home and business consumers, which is expected to begin in the summer. This project is the largest investment made so far in telecommunications in Cyprus and has a ten-year horizon, Cyta said in a press release. The upgrading of Cyta’s infrastructure includes the development of the fibre network in the major urban areas and significant investments in the wired network to upgrade the existing copper infrastructure, especially the one in rural areas. – Telecom Paper
