CTO Forum: Conference On Leading With Disruptive Technologies

Tamil Nadu Technology Development and Promotion Centre of Confederation of Indian Industry organized a one-day conference on Leading with Disruptive Technologies on 12 April 2019 in Chennai.

The Technology division of CII has been driving CTO Forum to help the technology community to innovate and leverage new age technologies. The CII CTO forum has undertaken many initiatives to enhance the innovation capacity of the Industry members. In continuation of the efforts in this direction, the Conference on Leading with Disruptive Technologies was envisioned to help technology companies navigate the changing landscape and enable their businesses to compete in the increasingly technologically advanced ecosystem.

S Chandramohan, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu State Council & Vice President, TNTDPC President & Group CFO, Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd welcomed the participants and addressed about how technology will transform the way we connect, learn, share and innovate in the future and have broad implications for organizations, workforces, and customers. He spoke about how a company’s revenue priorities and cost structure play a critical role in the way it evaluates proposed technological innovations.

Dr Shankar Venugopal, Conference Chairman and Vice President – Technology, Innovation & Knowledge Management, Mahindra & Mahindra set the context for the conference. He mentioned that the conference aimed at enabling business and technology leaders to lead innovation and business growth by leveraging disruptive technologies. He briefed on the gamut of disruptive technologies like AI, IoT, Machine Learning, Big Data, Block chain.

Kaushik Madhavan, Vice President – Mobility Practice, Frost & Sullivan spoke about the top trends for the automotive industry in 2019. He cited that ‘Internet of Things’ will form the foundation for transformative automotive products that include vehicle and device connectivity, autonomous driving, electric power trains, and shared mobility. Frost & Sullivan was the Knowledge Partner for the event. A report on “Transformational Shift in Mobility – Technology Disruptions and Innovations Driving Growth” was released in the conference.

Dr Seshu Bhagavathula, Chief Technology Officer, Ashok Leyland Group delivered the keynote address on disruption of tomorrow on a technology perspective & disruption on a global perspective. He highlighted in his talk about the future of mobility, air & space travel, energy generation; game-changing technologies & about the frontiers of science.

Lakshmi Narayanan, Emeritus Vice Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions spoke on the disruptive ideas that are transforming organizations. He mentioned that the more disruptive an idea is, it has a greater growth potential.

The conference discussed leading with disruptive technologies in technical sessions like Leading Innovation with Disruptive Technologies; Leading R&D and NPD with Disruptive Technologies; Leading Business with Disruptive Technologies; Learning to Lead Re-skilling with Disruptive Technologies.

The conference witnessed participation of 150 delegates; which included Professionals, Executives & Leaders in the technology domain.

The key outcome of the conference was; it provided the business and technology leaders a proactive approach to drive innovation and business growth by leveraging disruptive technologies. The conference helped the CTO’s to supplement their domain knowledge with unique thinking skills to effectively handle the disruptive technologies. It provided insights to relook and revamp the existing operating models and bring lean approach to core business and the support functions for better operational efficiency.―CT Bureau
