Coronavirus: Lava Shuts Noida Based Manufacturing Factory

Lava International has shut its Noida-located manufacturing facility till 25 March 2020. The move, as per a report by the Economic Times, has been carried out based on Uttar Pradesh (UP) government’s orders.

It is to be noted here that Lava’s Noida-based manufacturing facility has a capacity of manufacturing three million units every month. Lava exports approximately two million units of mobile phones every year.

Vivo’s work from home

China-based smartphone brand Vivo has also made work from home for its employees who were based at its Gurugram office. However, the company has not announced anything about its workers employed at its manufacturing facility located in Noida, UP.

“Starting March 23rd, Vivo has mandated 100 per cent work from home for its employees functioning at the Gurgaon office. Vivo will continue to follow the government’s directive and advisory on the situation to ensure well-being of all employees,” stated company’s official statement.

SPPL shut temporarily

Super Plastronics Private Limited (SPPL) brand license owner of Thomson and Kodak TVs has also shut down its manufacturing operations in India. The company had recently launched Google supported smart TVs in India.

”At SPPL, health and well-being of our employees and citizens is of utmost importance to us. Considering the same, we have closed down our manufacturing units in all 3 locations Noida, Jammu and Una as per the Government instruction until 31st March. All the other teams are working from home including the CXO team,” stated Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO, SPPL.

Xiaomi is donating masks and hazmat suits

Xiaomi, another-China based consumer electronics brand had earlier annoinced that it is importing N95 masks and hazmat suits. The same will be donated to hospitals and the state governments across India.

The brand has also activated delivery on call services for its products in various cities. Consumers can call Mi Homes and order smartphones using this service.
