Consumer Court Orders BSNL To Pay Customer Rs 5,000 For Connection Delay

A client court in Vadodara has ordered the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to pay Rs 5,000 to a customer for not offering cellphone connection for practically two months after the phone was put in in his home.The president of Jagte Raho Party, Parful Desai utilized for a phone connection on June 18, 2012 and a set was put in at his home in Raopura on June 26, inside ten days. However, the the BSNL offered connection to him on August 6, 2012.

Desai sued BSNL for offering late connection and demanded that an exemplary price of Rs 4.5 lakh be imposed on the Telecom firm. He submitted that the rules say that cellphone connection ought to be offered inside per week’s time, however BSNL took practically two months in offering the power.

After listening to him, the Vadodara district client dispute redressal discussion board directed BSNL to pay Desai Rs 5,000 for delay in offering cellphone connection, thought of as deficiency in service. – The Times of India
