Communications services companies rose as investors anticipated further spending on 5G data networks, despite U.S. efforts to thwart Huawei Technologies’ operations in the area.

The U.S. is considering restrictions that could limit the use of American chip-making equipment to produce semiconductors for China’s Huawei Technologies, The Wall Street Journal reported. But the U.S. is struggling to dissuade allies from buying 5G infrastructure from Huawei Technologies, despite security concerns, because the Chinese company offers the most affordable “turnkey solution” for 5G networks, said strategists at money manager Guild Investment Management, in a note to clients.

“The rollout of 5G wireless internet presents an enormous economic opportunity, since it will involve the construction and deployment of hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of infrastructure, and ultimately enable the creation of trillions of dollars’ worth of economic value,” said the Guild Investment strategists.-Morning Star
