Colt announces access to Oracle Cloud Services via FastConnect

Colt Technology Services, a leading provider of agile, high bandwidth connectivity solutions and an Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) member, today announced its expanded ability to offer connectivity services to the Oracle Cloud Milan Region via Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) FastConnect. Oracle customers can harness the power of Oracle Cloud locally, including Oracle Autonomous Database, to unlock innovation and drive business growth.

This expansion enables enterprises to benefit directly from Colt’s cloud optimised intelligent network, the Colt IQ Network, which is connected to Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) in Milan, Turin, Rome and Genova. Colt’s 100Gbps enabled fibre network is distributed to more than 3,100 connected enterprise buildings and 55 connected data centres across Italy.

Colt’s offering, together with OCI FastConnect, creates a high performing, end-to-end, connectivity experience for enterprises in the heart of Italy’s industrial and financial sector to connect to Oracle Cloud. In addition, this offering can help deliver a more secure, reliable and lower latency networking experience versus public internet-based connections.

This represents the latest expansion of the relationship between Colt and Oracle, with last year seeing Colt launching both hosted and dedicated port options via its Dedicated Cloud Access and On Demand portfolios to Oracle Cloud Regions in London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Osaka and Zurich.

Colt On Demand for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure allows customers to self-provision secure, high bandwidth connectivity to OCI regions in a matter of minutes, and allows them to dynamically scale bandwidth up or down in near-real-time. Colt On Demand for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is controlled by an online customer portal and purchased through a flexible, pay as you use commercial model.

With OCI, customers benefit from best-in-class security, consistent high performance, simple predictable pricing, and the tools and expertise needed to bring enterprise workloads to cloud quickly and efficiently.

Jaya Deshmukh, Colt’s Executive Vice President (EVP) of Strategy and Transformation, said “This past year has highlighted not only the importance of agile, on-demand, high bandwidth network infrastructure, but also the wider technological ecosystem that had to rapidly come together as the world changed. Our growing relationship with Oracle is one we’re extremely proud of, as it’s facilitated numerous cloud transformations which have allowed enterprises to continue to evolve in a time of great uncertainty. By adding a further Oracle point of presence in Italy, Oracle and Colt will continue to support the growing needs of enterprises in these critical regions.”

OCI’s extensive network of more than 70 FastConnect global and regional partners offer customers dedicated connectivity to Oracle Cloud regions and OCI services – providing customers with excellent options anywhere in the world.

Specifically architected to meet the needs of the enterprise, Oracle Cloud is a next-generation enterprise cloud that delivers powerful compute and networking performance and a comprehensive portfolio of infrastructure and platform cloud services from application development and business analytics to data management, integration, security, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain. With unique architecture and capabilities, Oracle Cloud delivers unmatched security, performance, and cost savings. Oracle Cloud is the only cloud built to run Oracle Autonomous Database, the industry’s first and only self-driving database.
