COAI & ICEA recommend reduction in levies in UB FY24
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) in its pre-budget recommendations to the finance ministry is seeking for
- A refund of the ₹32,000-crore input-tax credit.
- Reduce levies that includes licence fees and contribution to USOF.
India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) too has put in its recommendations. The Association has sought that:
- 20% basic customs duty on high-end phones be changed to Rs 4,000 per device.
- A review of the existing tariff structure for electronics manufacturing, recommending a comprehensive study to assess and evaluate the existing tariff on products.
- Removal or a reduction in tariffs of 2.75% on input components. This includes parts of PCBA (printed circuit board assembly), connectors, and particularly camera modules.
- Products not made in India be exempted from all duties.
