CM inaugurates projects under Smart City virtually

The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday, inaugurated and laid foundation stone of various projects under the Varanasi Smart City virtually.

According to the Varanasi Smart City spokesperson SN Sonthalia, the CM inaugurated the newly constructed e-bus charging station for air-conditioned e-buses in the city. In order to reduce the pollution and promote green- public transportation, the urban development department of UP has allotted 700 air-conditioned e-buses across 14 cities, of which 50 buses are being operated in Varanasi.

An e-bus charging station has been constructed in Mirzamurad area of Rajatalab tehsil with 2 sub-stations of 160 kVA each having a capacity of charging a total of 30 e-buses at a time. On an average, it will take 60-90 minutes for charging one e-bus after which the bus will be able to cover a distance of 120 km. Maintenance shed, substation building, construction of charging point, toilet, lighting system, drinking water, guard room, meter and pump room as well as rainwater harvesting have been also provided at the e-bus charging station.

The CM also inaugurated free Wi-Fi facility at seven locations in the city. The residents will be able to avail the facility of free Wi-Fi for 30 minutes by logging in through mobile number and one time password (OTP). These seven places include Rudraksh International Convention Center -Shaheed Udyan Park, Sarnath Museum, Chaudhary Charan Singh Interstate Bus Stand, Kachhehri (near DM office), Ambedkar chauraha, and Godowlia multi-level parking.

Besides, the CM also laid foundation stone for the redevelopment and beautification of six parks and a pond including Vijay Nagar Park, Rampuri Park, Swami Vivekananda Park, Das Nagar Park, Neel Cottage Park, Kailagarh Colony Park and Ramjanki Seva Samiti Kund. Landscaping and pathway work, installation of high-mast and solar lights, kiosk, open gym, kids play area are to be done under this project. TNN
