CII organises Innovation Unleashed: Shaping the future of digital transformation
The first ever IT Conclave-2023 on the theme of Innovation Unleashed: Shaping the Future of Digital Transformation organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with Government of Telangana was inaugurated on Friday by Dr. Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary – Industries & Commerce, Information Technology department, Government of Telangana. In his address, he mentioned that Telangana has been at the forefront of India’s IT revolution and today’s step marks yet another milestone in supporting India’s position as the world’s preeminent software powerhouse.
“This is the next Y2K moment for India’s tech sector and Telangana is poised to take leadership herein as the state’s technology ecosystem has matured very well and industry here works very harmoniously and Hyderabad is best placed to take advantage of this. The IT sector in our state has lower turnover and better employee discipline as well,” said Dr. Ranjan.
Welcoming delegates to the debut edition of this event that promises to be a landmark one that the industry looks forward to, Mr. C Shekar Reddy, Chairman, CII Telangana & Chairman & MD – CSR Estates Ltd said, “In FY 22-23, IT exports out of Telangana rose over 31% y-o-y outperforming the pan India growth rate of 9.3%. In the last one year jobs in the IT sector in Telangana have grown by 16.2%. Our state now ranks at 2nd position in the innovation index in India.”
The Southern States have played a leading role in Technology adoption leading to a better quality of life. CII Southern Region has been organising landmark events to allow policymakers, thought leaders, academics, entrepreneurs interact and evolve an agenda for the development of the knowledge economy. This has led to many path-breaking policy initiatives and the leadership of various states in the South in the IT Industry demonstrates the strength of the ecosystem, which has been built over the years.
Mr V Ramakrishna, Co-Convenor – CII Telangana Digital Transformation, IT & Startups Panel & Co-Founder and CEO, Zoreum Technologies Pvt Ltd added, “Hyderabad will be known as the AI capital of the country. But I also think that tier two cities will see a lot of employment being created as IT companies take advantage of lower wage costs there.”
Ms Sheenam Ohrie, Managing Director, Broadridge Financial Solutions, India also spoke at the inaugural session and said IT companies need to focus on their customers. Customers should be able to do operations through (DIY) service and build sustainability into their operations.
Mr Sanjeev Deshpande, Convenor – CII Telangana Digital Transformation, IT & Startups Panel & Head of APAC Region, MD-India, NTT Data Business Solutions remarked, “India will embark upon developing its own large language models in the space of artificial intelligence.”
With innovation at the heart of every successful digital transformation journey, the conference brought to light tools, stratagems and methods organisations can use, to drive meaningful change and drive the power of digital transformation. The conference deliberations were organised around four sub topics-

Giving an example Mr. Sathyavageeswaran R, Head, CII Tata Communications Center of Excellence for Digital Transformation spoke about digital transformation of a company that allows customers to configure products they want that salespeople weren’t even selling. “Absolute support from senior management is required as a digital transformation takes 12-18 months to achieve and the organisations culture must support this,” he said. Mr. Hari Bharadwaj, Director, DXC Technology said, “Digital transformation is all about delighting internal users and customers, it will be the way we run businesses in the future.”. According to Mr. Raghav Nookala, VP Customer success and Digital Transformation, CEIPAL Corp, digital transformation will help India Inc reimagine processes for enhanced outcomes to customers and the experience for everyone involved
Speaking about artificial intelligence, Amit Sharma, Senior Tech – Global AI accelerator, Ericsson said his firm is integrating this to automate intelligent network management with an aim to make this zero touch while constantly optimising while reducing energy usage. Santhanam Govindraj, CIO, Broadridge Financial Solutions spoke about how AI is helping organisations identify and address customers likely to leave.
“The next 20 years will be social transformation from building individual models to build an ecosystem as well. Building this 1000 API AI system from 2-3 application programming interface is what excites us at Reliance,” said Dr Shailesh Kumar, Chief Data scientist, CoE AI/ML, Jio.
India needs to capitalize on developing disruptive business models that uses digital technologies in an innovative manner if we are to realise our vision to become a $5 trillion economy. Keeping the above in mind IT’ Conclave-2023 featured exclusive sessions and panel discussions showcasing the fast-paced growth of ICT sector in Telangana making the state a natural choice for Investment in the ICT sector thanks to its abundant and skilled ICT manpower pool.
Touching upon the key role towns such as Vijaywada, Hyderabad etc. will play, Kalyan Muppanneni, Founder CEO, Pi Data Centers said that artificial intelligence will consume power like never before. “In future data centres may account for as much as a fourth of total urban energy consumption so they will have to be located out of the megapolises,” he said.
The participation of eminent leaders from the ICT spectrum, thought leaders, policymakers, academics and entrepreneurs aligned to identity key actions required to accelerate growth driven by innovation in the post digital economy helped to make this grand event a success. PNI News
