China smartphone shipments fell 18.2% year-on-year

The China Academy of Information and Communications (CAICT), a state-backed think-tank, reported the domestic smartphones shipments fell 18.2% year-on-year to 32.4 million handsets in January.

According to the CAICT, shipments decreased from about 39.6 million in January 2021 to slightly below 32.7 million in December 2021.

5G smartphone shipments stood at 266.1 million units in 2021.
