BSNL’s Vivek Banzal set to be next CMD of ITI Limited

Vivek Banzal is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of ITI Limited, a PSU under the Department of Telecommunications. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Wednesday. Presently, he is serving as Director (Consumer Fixed Access) in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

Banzal has been recommended for the post of CMD of ITI Limited from a list of four candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. The other three candidates, who were on the list were from ITI Limited, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and KRIDE.

Banzal is an Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officer of the 1987-batch. He has done Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics, a Master of Engineering in Computer Science and an MBA. He has more than 34 years of experience in handling computer and telecom networks. He started his career as a customer service and solution engineer in the computer industry in 1986. After joining the Department of Telecom, he executed the first digital satellite ground station project for telecom in India. He joined as Director (CFA) in BSNL’s Corporate Office on October 18, 2018.

As CMD of ITI Limited, Mr Banzal will be the Chief Executive of the corporation. He will be accountable to the Board of Directors and the government. He will also be responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters. PSU Watch
