Bharti Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) employees raised slogans against the Centre and held a protest at their Jayalakshmipuram office here on Tuesday, demanding salary and pension revision and allocation of 4G spectrum to BSNL.
As part of nation-wide strike, the city unit of BSNL joined hands with its counterparts from other states to protest against the Centre’s anti-labour policies.
Their demands include third pay revision, implementation of government rules in payment of pension contributed by BSNL employees, allotment of 4G spectrum to BSNL as per the proposal submitted by the management, settlement of left out issues of the second pay revision committee among others.
On February 24 this year, all unions and association of BSNL employees met Minister of Communications and Minister of State Railways, Manoj Sinha and placed a list of demands before him. Even after eight months, the demands have not been met. The affiliated unions of BSNL are planning to hold several demonstrations, protests to pressure the government to fulfil the demands of 1.50 lakh employees.
The unions are planning a nation-wide protest on November 14 and a rally on November 30. If the demands are met by then, the unions will chalk out a new course of action.
