Ashwini Vaishnaw at TRAI’s silver jubilee

Communications and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, DoT is working on bringing the regulatory structure of telecom in India at par with global standards, attaining technological leadership.

“Under the PM Gati Shakti portal for Rights of Way (RoW) approvals, 32 states have joined in our federal structure for a simultaneous, simplified approval system for RoW and the credit goes to honorable PM’s vision. The result is that what used to take 100 days for approvals is now taking on average 22 days for RoW approval,” he said.

“By the end of this year we should see our own indigenously developed 5 G technology stack . The stack will have a complete ecosystem for development which includes a 5G test bed and a complete ecosystem for product development,” he added.

“We are also very proud and happy to share for the first time in the entire journey of mobile telephony. Indian IPR has been included in the 3GPP release as a mandatory standard. This is the first step in the global table where all the big standard makers sit,” he commented.
