Apurva Chandra assigned additional charge, is Secretary, DoT

Apurva Chandra, secretary, ministry of information and broadcasting has been given additional charge, as secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet said in a memorandum w.e.f. July 31, 2023. The appointment will stand until a permanent successor is appointed. Chandra has been I&B secretary since August 2021, before which he was with the Ministries of Labour, Employment and Defence.

K. Rajaraman, secretary, DoT has been tapped to head the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) for a period of three years or till attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is the earliest. Rajaraman succeeds Injeti Srinivas, who had taken over as the first chairman in July 2020, also for a three-year period.

Rajaraman took charge as chairman, Digital Communication commission and secretary, telecom in October 2021. An IAS officer from the 1989 batch in the Tamil Nadu cadre, Rajaraman has served as the additional secretary (Investments & Infrastructure) in the Department of Economic Affairs, and also as a joint secretary in the Department of Expenditure.
