Apple reportedly acquired AR start-up Mira as it pushes new headset vision

Apple has reportedly bought an augmented-reality start-up that supplies tech in uses ranging from theme parks to the U.S. military.

That news comes a day after Apple’s unveiling of the Vision Pro, its $3,500 AR/VR headset (and its biggest product launch in nearly 10 years).

Apple has acquired Los Angeles-based Mira, according to The Verge.

Mira has raised about $17M in funding — and it’s taken advice from Jony Ive, once Apple’s design chief, according to the report.

The start-up’s headsets are in use on the Mario Kart ride at Nintendo World parks in Japan and Los Angeles.

But it also has contracts with the U.S. Air Force and Navy, for such uses as heads-up display equipment instruction. Seeking Alpha
