Angola Plans To Privatize Dozen Telecom Companies

The Angolan government plans to privatize a dozen or so companies in the telecommunications sector by 2022, reports Mercado. The list includes Unitel, MS Telecom, ACS and Net One (belonging to Sonangol), as well as Angola Telecom and TV Cabo Angola.

A presidential decree from 5 August, which approves the Privatisation Programme for the period 2019-2022, reveals that in total 195 companies, or company assets, will be sold. The sale of shareholdings in all telecom companies is expected by 2022. Regarding the procedure to be used, only TV Cabo Angola will be sold through an IPO; Net One, Unitel, Encta and Elta will be sold through a public tender; while MS Telecom, Multitel, Angola Telecom and ACS will be privatised via stock exchange auction.―Telecompaper
