An enterprise academy to strengthen the cyber security system in Odisha

Odisha police have decided to engage an academy partner to take cyber security measures in the state. The academy partner will have multiple tasks that include raising awareness about cyber security, conducting cyber safety audit and imparting investigation and cyber forensic lessons to cops.

The government has approved our proposal of selecting an enterprise academy partner to strengthen the cyber security system. The agency will provide training and orientation to personnel in various organizations and IT institutions. It will also perform services, including cyber security awareness and audit, review of the existing IT policies and creation of IT policies as per the requirement, a senior police official said.

The academy partner will conduct training on topics like Information Technology Act, web hosting and social media investigation, cyber and mobile forensics, and e-mail investigation.

Recently, the police invited experts from the national digital crime resource and training centre (NDCRTC), a dedicated wing of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), to impart the cyber investigation lessons to police personnel.

Police said cybercrime is a borderless and contactless offence where the scammers act in anonymity. Cops feel easy access to the internet and unmonitored reach has exposed people’s vulnerability to cybercrime. ToI
