Airtel names Shashwat Sharma as COO

Bharti Airtel has elevated Shashwat Sharma to the post of chief operating officer as part of changes to its management board. The changes have been made effective over the past week, with the elevation of Sharma to the post of COO, as Sunil Taldar – director operations for the India business – moved to head transformation for the company’s Africa business. He has been replaced by Sharma who earlier headed the marketing and consumer business for the telco, and was chief executive of Airtel DTH, its linear TV distribution business.

In Sharma’s place, Amit Tripathi has taken over as director – marketing and customer experience. Tripathi will be responsible for all of Shashwat Sharma’s portfolio barring the DTH business which has been given to Siddharth Sharma. Market Screener
