Airtel Achieves Nearly 100 Percent Active Mobile Subscriber Base: TRAI

Vodafone Idea has an active mobile subscriber base of 404.74 million in November 2018 as against 339.88 million for Bharti Airtel, 226.01 million for Reliance Jio and 64.41 million for BSNL, the latest TRAI report shows.

The total mobile subscriber base – both active and inactive of Vodafone Idea was 427.60 million in November 2018 as compared with Airtel’s 341.76 million, Reliance Jio’s 271.55 million and BSNL’s 113.78 million.

The TRAI data revealed that Airtel has 99.45 percent, active subscribers. Vodafone Idea has 94.89 percent, active subscribers. Reliance Jio has 83.23 percent, active subscribers. BSNL has 56.61 percent, active subscribers.

TRAI said Airtel has added 101533 wireless subscribers in November 2018 against 6526579 loss for Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio’s addition of 8801310 and BSNL’s addition of 377787. Reliance Jio was the top operator in terms of wireless net additions.

Telecom operators received 3.24 million — 1.71 million from Zone-I and 1.53 million from Zone-II — requests for MNP during the month of November 2018. The cumulative MNP requests increased from 403.97 million in October 2018 to 407.22 million in November 2018, since the implementation of MNP.

TRAI said India wireless subscriber base increased from 1,170.02 million in October to 1,171.76 million in November 2018. Wireless subscription in urban areas fell 648.24 million to 645.71 million, while wireless subscriptions in rural areas rose from 521.77 million to 526.05 million.

Reliance Jio with 271.55 million, Vodafone Idea with 105.44 million, Bharti Airtel with 104.74 million and BSNL with 20.45 million are the top broadband service providers in India.

Wired broadband service providers are BSNL with 9.17 million, Bharti Airtel with 2.26 million, Atria Convergence Technologies with 1.38 million, MTNL with 0.78 million and Hathway Cable with 0.77 million subscribers.

Wireless broadband service providers are Reliance Jio with 271.55 million, Vodafone Idea with 105.43 million, Bharti Airtel with 102.49 million and BSNL with 11.29 million.―Telecom Lead
