3 Variants Of India-First Oppo Reno 2 Launched

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo unveiled a new smartphone globally in India—Oppo Reno 2. The smartphone was launched in three variants, namely Reno 2, Reno 2Z and Reno 2F. The three smartphones have differences lying mainly in the camera setup, display quality and processors.

The Reno 2 is priced at Rs. 36,990 while the Reno 2Z will sell for Rs. 29,990. The Reno 2F will be available in November but Oppo hasn’t revealed the price of it.

Pre bookings for the Reno 2 will start on 10 Septmeber and it will go on sale starting 20 September.

The Oppo Reno 2Z is available for pre-bookings starting today and will be available for purchase starting 6 September.

The smartphones would be available online on Flipkart and Amazon and across Oppo’s 50,000 offline outlets.

Oppo also launched the Oppo Enko Q1 noise-cancelling headsets at the event for 7,990.

Here are the specifications of the Oppo Reno 2-series:

Display

The Reno 2 is lit by a notch-free 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080, while the Reno 2Z and Reno 2F come with slightly smaller displays spanning 6.53-inches.

Front camera

All three smartphones lack a notch to accommodate the front-facing camera and instead come with motorised camera mechanisms. However, while the Reno 2 carries forward the shark-fin pivot structure camera, the other two variants have a centrally placed vertical pop-up cameras.

Processor and software

The Reno 2 runs the Snapdragon 730G chipset from Qualcomm that is designed for gaming. The Reno 2Z and the 2F are powered by MediaTek processors—the former runs MediaTek Helio P90 SoC while the 2F uses the P70.

All variants come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage except the Reno 2F, which comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. All three smartphones come with UFS2.1 fast storage and LPDDR 4x memory module.

All three smartphones are backed by a 4,000mAh li-ion battery with support for VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge technology.

All the smartphones run Android 9 Pie with Oppo’s ColorOS 6 UI running atop.

Rear cameras

All three variants of the Reno 2-series have four rear-facing cameras, with a few differences.

The Reno 2 comes with an optically and electronically stabilised 48MP Sony IMX 586 primary sensor accompanied by a 13MP telephoto camera, giving it the capability to have 5X hybrid zoom. It also has an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP sensor with monochrome lens for capturing depth information.

The Reno 2Z comes with a slightly different setup, with an electronically stabilised 48MP Sony sensor along with an 8MP wide-angle camera, 2MP sensor with a mono lens and 2MP portrait sensor.

The Reno 2F comes with an electronically stabilised 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor accompanied by same ultra wide-mono-portrait configuration as the Reno 2Z.

Colour variants

The Reno2 Series is available in five colours: Ocean Blue (Reno2), Luminous Black (Reno2 & Reno2Z), Sky White/Polar Light (Reno2Z), and Sky White/Lake Green (Reno2F)―Livemint
