On the current scenario of the voice solutions market

The voice solution market is flooded with various MNC and local players. As per the latest trend at the national level, a few manufactures have stopped manufacturing their own products. Instead, they have become distributors for MNC brands. This has definitely reduced the competitive pressure in the market. In the VoIP domain new players are entering the business. This includes local as well as MNC players. The important force in the market today is the service providers converting traditional POTS lines to ISDN PRI lines.

On the growth drivers of the Indian voice solutions market

Earlier contact centers, enterprises, BFSI, and retail were the growth drivers of the voice solutions market, mainly due to the size of business they offer. Of-late, due to recession, the focus has been diverted from these sectors to the SME segment. The trend is also marked in other industries.

On the market and technology trends in the voice solutions market

Service providers are keen to get all sizes and types of organizational customers in their fold by sponsoring PBX and accessories. Main stream service providers have lately contributed in the voice solutions business. On the technology front, after remaining on the periphery for a long time, ISDN PRI has become the mainstream, thanks to the efforts of the service providers. VoIP is also growing surely but silently due to various reasons.

On the impact of the slowdown on the market

Slowdown has affected almost all the sectors and telecom is not an exception. During the heydays, sectors like BFSI, retail, and real estate were prime-movers of the telecom industry. Slowdown in these sectors has a cascading effect on telecom. However, we are optimistic due to the market revival sign witnessed lately.

On the key challenges faced by the players in India

There are not many indigenous voice solutions players left in India. Many of the earlier manufactures have succumbed to the market pressure and have given up manufacturing and product development efforts; they have joined hands with Japanese or Korean players and have become their distributors. The challenges have always been the same'technology, quality, marketing, etc.

On major policies or regulatory issues that are affecting the growth of the market

Restrictions and confusion in the VoIP usage is restricting growth of this new-generation technology. VoIP technology has potential to enhance personal and organizational productivity. The potential application of VoIP technology has not yet been fully realized. Various regulatory restrictions have confined the usage of products to limited mediums.

On the future of voice solutions market in India

Exponential growth in personal mobile telephony has overshadowed organizational telephony market in the last few years.

When people get together at a place to work, they need communication to interact with each other and external agents like vendors, customers, colleagues, etc. Technology may change from POTS to ISDN to VoIP to video in future. Thus, there are two types of opportunities in India'meeting untapped demand and upgrading old technologies.
