Bharti Airtel and Alcatel-Lucent form managed services joint venture Asia's leading integrated telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has formed a joint venture with Alcatel-Lucent to manage Bharti Airtel's pan-India broadband and telephone services and help Airtel's transition to Next Generation Networks to offer advanced services like high-speed internet, triple play, media-rich VAS, MPLS, VPN for both retail and business customers. Under the joint venture, Alcatel-Lucent will design, plan, deploy, optimize and manage Bharti Airtel's broadband and telephone network across India. The new legal entity formed will be operated by Alcatel-Lucent. IBM enters into agreement with HDFC bank to support business growth IBM has been appointed by HDFC bank to build a cost-effective IT framework that will support its strong business growth. HDFC Bank is the first commercial bank in India to adopt the IBM mainframe and has joined the ranks of the world's top 50 banks that continue to run on System z technology. IBM was appointed after a careful evaluation of its systems and technology. Nokia Siemens Networks bags five year contract from Telenor Pakistan Telenor Pakistan handed over a network expansion as well as upgrade contract to Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). The contract is spread over a period of five years. It will require NSN to handle site acquisition, construction, network implementation, logistics, and project management for the operator. Elitecore Technologies partners with Veraz Networks  Elitecore Technologies, a leading provider of telecom OSS/BSS system has partnered with Veraz Networks to jointly launch end-to-end OSS/BSS solution for IMS based services on IP platform. The joint venture will help the service providers to quickly and efficiently migrate from traditional circuit switch voice networks to all-IP, fixed-mobile, and multimedia networks consistent with emerging IMS standards.
Checkpoint acquires Nokia security appliance business Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the worldwide leader in securing the internet, has acquired the Nokia Security Appliance business, a natural culmination of a twelve-year strategic partnership. In addition to Check Point UTM-1 and Power-1 appliances, businesses can purchase immediately through Check Point (formerly Nokia) IP hardware running Check Point security software. DIGILINK overhauls brand identity DIGILINK has announced various initiatives to reinforce the brand in the global market, commencing with unveiling a new brand identity. DIGILINK was introduced as a structured cabling brand from D-Link India Ltd. in 2004. Last year, in October, D-Link India Ltd. announced its de-merger into two separate entities that would focus on active products under D-LINK brand and passive products under DIGILINK brand. Post de-merger announcement, there has been an increased focus on positioning DIGILINK as an independent SCS brand and thus the need for creating a new brand identity emerged. |
