Background: Religare is a diversified financial services group of India offering a multitude of investment options. The diverse bouquet of financial services which Religare offers can be broadly clubbed across three key verticals'retail, institutional, and wealth spectrums. The network at Noida facility was to provide connectivity for about 7200 (3800 data and 3400 voice) connects across the entire facility. Tyco Electronics' AMP Netconnect cabling solution was selected based on an extensive technical evaluation.

Challenge

Being in the financial business with data-centric environments, Religare could not afford down time on its network and needed solutions that would be fail-proof and offer scalability, density and high up-time while reducing the overall foot-print of the telecom room and data center. The project on the whole required a very high level of infrastructure planning in terms of both material and manpower. Tyco Electronics' AMP Netconnect cabling solution was selected based on an extensive technical evaluation. The process involved a series of technical presentations detailing the product advantages and the end to end cabling performance. Product demonstrations and sample submissions for evaluation was part of the process. Tyco Electronics backed up its standards based, high performance solution with aggressive pricing and firm delivery commitments.

Solution

Tyco Electronics proposed high density data center MPO Solution, open frame racks with angular panels, colored solution, and 10 Gbps fiber backbone connectivity. The solution proposed keeps in mind the future growth requirements of Religare. The MPO solution provides high speed, scalability, and plug and go connectivity on 10 Gbps fiber ethernet. The angular panel solution proposed to Religare is an open rack system with angular panels that offer high port density in the racks while enhanced cable managers provide better cable management.

The network at Noida facility, to provide connectivity for about 7200 (3800 data & 3400 voice) connects, is designed in a star topology on distributed network architecture; 13 network rooms and main network room/data center are networked on 12 core multi mode armored cable (OM3) which serves as the backbone and runs through the main network room. Dual fiber connectivity from redundant paths ensures maximum connectivity at all times. Each data and voice connect has an individual cable and some additional data cables are also provided in certain key areas as back-up. Multicolor information outlet and patch cords are proposed for easy visual identification and better manageability. All the cables run through under-trunks or ceiling-ducts, as per raceway path to their respective locations in the network room. All the LAN cables terminate on 24 port angular jack panels which are housed in 45U open frame or closed racks. In the data center there are around 1500 ports on copper and around 200 ports on fiber MPO solution.

While each network at Religare has its unique design, the office network and datacenter at Nehru Place, New Delhi serves 20 racks of which 14 are server racks and 6 racks are network racks. With a total of 1500 ports, the network is on high density MPO fiber solution. In Mumbai there are two offices and data centers, each with 650 ports.

Thanks to the world class ERP systems, and bonded ware-housing, Tyco Electronics handled the supply of material quite easily; even the increased and sporadic requirements during project implementation with short delivery periods did not suffer.

RELIGARE is in the business of providing financial services to end users; in order to achieve this, a highly robust IT network infrastructure needs to be in place. We cannot afford downtime as each minute of downtime results in direct loss of revenue from the trading service we provide to public. Tyco Electronics' AMP Netconnect provides us a network cabling infrastructure which is ahead of the standards in terms of performance. The products are aesthetically appealing and sturdy and backed by a 25 year product warranty they have given us assurance and peace of mind that we have a future ready infrastructure in place.
