Client: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Project: Revamp of existing Enterasys network Industry: BFSI Vendor: Siemens Enterprise Communications NABARD wanted to revamp their existing Enterasys network which was running from the last seven years. The bank invited bids from single bidders able to quote networking hardware (switching and passive), management tool and software, if applicable. The existing infrastructure included Enterasys Matrix-E7 and Enterasys SSR switches. The main objective of new requirement was technology refresh with a high-available and high-performance network, Gigabit interface at edge, and 10G backbone connectivity.Clean Sweep Siemens Enterprise Communications offered Enterasys Networking solution. Enterasys Networks is a premier global provider of wired and wireless network infrastructure and security solutions, and is now part of Siemens Enterprise Communications Group. The technical team of NABARD did a detailed technical evaluation and approved Enterasys and Cisco to address the requirement of 1600-node. NABARD also asked for six year maintenance support from the bidders. After normal bidding process, NABARD invited bidders of Enterasys and Cisco for reverse bidding. Siemens Enterprise Communications emerged as the lowest bidder in this process beating three other vendors. Solution Architecture As per their technical requirement, Siemens Enterprise Communications provided NABARD with high performance, high availability and Secure S Series S8 Switch at core for meeting their performance hogging applications which run over network in Data Center. The S-series is a powerful family of core switch that combines high-performance networking with the highest level of core security available today to support the most demanding enterprise applications and business-critical communications. An integral part of Enterasys' complete edge-to-core Secure Networks product line, the S-series delivers unmatched enterprise security, risk mitigation and the next generation continuity demanded by today's always-on networked enterprises. The S-series is ideal for enterprises supporting real-time applications such as voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), video to the desktop, high-performance imaging, and grid computing for massive data-intensive environments. With core-flow technology, the same provides granular information about the network. Also, C5 layer 3 switches for end device connectivity with inbuilt secure policy feature along with 10G SFP ports for future bandwidth needs. And the most important factor was that Enterasys NMS gave them complete visibility and control to achieve monitoring, management, secure policy deployment and inventory management. Customer Benefits Smooth transition to new technology. Siemens Enterprise Communications displayed its strength in terms of Enterasys solution implementation way before target date. During the implementation phase, NABARD technical team got an opportunity to see ease of deployment and management of Enterasys Solution. Apart from that, Siemens Enterprise Communications gave tremendous support to NABARD to achieve smooth migration with its knowledgeable and skilled professional team. The same clearly showcased their years of experience when it comes to project execution. Network Management and Control. Importance and need of networking solutions is well known fact, but not many solution providers can really live up to it and show real strength of network with granular control and secure architecture with no compromise on performance. High Performance. S-Series offers high performance at core in switching capacity and throughput providing several benefits like MUA, policy-based management and unsampled netflow technology. |
