The Association of Unified Telecom Services Providers of India (AUSPI), the industry body representing the interests of dual technology players and CDMA operators, will soon have a new Secretary General. S.C. Khanna who has been holding this post for over a decade will retire in September. Another telecom industry veteran Ashok Sood will take over the post. Sood was earlier the regulatory head of Tata Teleservices and then moved to Uninor. Khanna is planning to take up philanthropy and is also considering offers from multiple entities to work as an advisor. During his tenure in AUSPI, Khanna has taken the cudgels on behalf of Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices and has fought the GSM lobby group, Cellular Operators Association of India, on a number of crucial policy issues including the controversial WLL limited mobility. -The Hindu Business Line |
