| Wipro BPO head resigns |
| Friday, 08 June 2012 | |
|
Wipro’s BPO head Manish Dugar has resigned. Dugar took up this position from Ashutosh Vaidya as the global head of the IT firm’s BPO operations, a year ago. Manoj Punja, Wipro’s Latin American sales chief, will replace him. In his earlier position, Dugar was the chief financial officer (CFO) of Wipro’s IT business. Prior to his role as the IT business CFO, he headed the finance function for the BPO division where he played a critical role in the group's global expansion. In March the IT firm’s global banking head Sriram Srinivasan had also resigned with Rajan Kohli, its former chief marketing officer taking over the role. Wipro, while announcing the last quarterly results had stated that overall business was dragged down by its BPO operations during the March quarter. In the last quarter Wipro’s headcount had reduced by 814, when its BPO unit restructured business on account of a process moving offshore. The said process had a total employee count of 2200. Ever since TK Kurien took over as CEO of IT business of Wipro in January, 2011, the company has witnessed large scale revamp and restructuring. This has largely to do with dismantling the multiple reporting structures, which Wipro Technologies was earlier operating under. –Communications Today Bureau |
