Broadband in India - Infrastructure Availability and Options

As per an ITU report, the contribution of each broadband connection toward growth of GDP is twice as much as that of a phone connection. Realizing the importance of emphasizing the growth of broadband in India, CII and TRAI produced exhaustive reports and formulated specific and far reaching recommendations to the government in 2003-04 time frame. Based on TRAI recommendations, the government came out with a Broadband Policy in 2004 which continues to be the guiding policy for the development and growth of broadband in India.
