In our series of articles on BharatNet, the dream project of digitally connecting all of India's villages and gram panchayats by broadband Internet connectivity by December 2018, this month we have invited the vendors to provide an update on their progress.

For 2016-17, orders for turnkey projects for supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of GPON equipment and solar power equipment had been placed on ITI Limited, Tejas Networks, and Larsen & Toubro.

Orders for OFC cables, BJC, BJC with splitter 1:2, SJC, FTB, FDMS, and patch chords were placed on Sterlite Technologies, Paramount Wires and Cables, Vindhya Telelinks, Aksh Optifibre, HFCL, Finolex Cables, Apar Industries, Polycab Wires, UM Cables, and KEC International.
